Consider purchasing a textured carpet pile
because it will show less wear over time. When deciding on flooring for a
small area, a large block will enhance the size of your room. Choose a
contrasting shade to enhance your furnishings when selecting colors.

Bring any paint or fabric samples from the room for
which you are choosing flooring when you make your selections. Don’t be
afraid of color, it livens up a room. It’s important to get the proper
balance of color and pattern to ensure that the floor, eye level and upper
walls blend together.

Don’t think this is the last carpet you’re going to
buy, get the color you want and enjoy it! Don’t just play it safe with all
neutral colors and textures. While large simple patterns in light colors
will open up spaces, they’re also the hardest to keep clean. A medium
color with some pattern usually requires less maintenance. If you’re
selling your house, then go with light warm beige colors, an inexpensive
carpet that doesn’t shed (continuous filament yarn), and one with some
kind of soil and stain treatment.
Mike
Plan ahead! Buy carpet for the way you live. Do you
have kids, pets, and frequent visitors? These will cause more everyday wear.
What type of room will you be carpeting?
Will it be used often, or not? Will people be eating or drinking
there? Do you have a color scheme in mind? Bring upholstery and drapery
samples along while you shop to insure your carpet choice achieves your
desired look. Carpet within your budget. Keep in mind, the real carpet price
includes material, cushion and labor.

Take advantage of the free
measure guidelines on the website to save yourself money. If you do,
then you have less chance of falling in love with a floor only find out that
it’s too expensive. By having everything in hand at the store you’ll
know exactly which floor fits your budget. At the very least, you should
draw a diagram of how the rooms relate to each other and/or measure the
areas before shopping. Just measure the rooms’ widest width and longest
length then add 3 inches to come close. Don’t think of a darker color as
making the room dimmer, but cozier.
